Concerned with the rate at which Civic Space continues to shrink in Zimbabwe, the National Association of Youth Organizations (NAYO) through the Youth Working Group on Civic Space held a Press Conference on 16 April 2019 in Harare. Among other things, NAYO implored the Government to repeal the Zimbabwe Youth Council (ZYC) Act, and coming up with a more pro-youth framework for effective development where the youth play an integral role through the Parliament of Zimbabwe as enshrined in the National Constitution under Section 20. NAYO also called for the amendment of the Private Voluntary Organizations (PVO Act) to ensure that Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to operate in an enabling environment.
