Journalists Harassed During Protest Against Police Brutality

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) harassed Harare Journalists who had embarked on a protest against the brutality of the Police and Harare Municipal Police officials towards Journalists. The sad development came shortly after the Police and Members of the Harare Municipal Police brutalized Journalists from an online media outlet, 263 Chat and further raided their offices in the Central Business District of Harare. It is also reported that members of the anti-riot Police fired a teargas canister which injured one of the Journalists at 263 Chat. Civic Space continues to shrink in Zimbabwe with the Freedoms of Expression, Assembly and Association being heavily infringed on although these are guaranteed in the Zimbabwe National Constitution.
