The National
Association of Youth Organizations (NAYO) having been perturbed by the
continued crackdown on Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Non-Governmental Organizations
(NGOs), Journalists, activists and human rights defenders, most of whom
are youth. This has been also characterized by unlawful suspension
of NGOs as in the case of COTRAD in Masvingo, targeting of NGOs as in the
arrests, calls to tighten provisions for demonstrations, public downplaying of
NGOs and the continued shrinking civic space for NGOs and citizens.
NOW THEREFORE, your petitioners beseech the Parliament of Zimbabwe
to exercise its constitutional role and address the following issues of public
concern:
